Accessibility Statement
Quick summary
WasteGrid is committed to making our website accessible to as many people as possible.
We are in pre-launch and currently partially compliant with WCAG 2.2 AA.
Use the contents panel to jump directly to any section of this statement.
Scope of this statement
This statement applies to content published at wastegrid.co.uk, including the waitlist registration page and the Our Purpose report at wastegrid.co.uk/our-purpose.
How accessible this website is
WasteGrid is in pre-launch. The live site currently consists of a waitlist landing page and the Our Purpose report. We aim for the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standard as our baseline, and will test against that standard as new features are released.
We know that parts of the site are not yet fully accessible. Known limitations include:
- Not every image has been audited for descriptive alternative text.
- Keyboard-only navigation has not yet been independently tested end-to-end.
- Colour contrast across every component has not yet been independently verified.
- PDF versions of our reports have not been fully tested with screen readers.
We will update this statement as issues are resolved and as the platform expands.
Reporting accessibility problems
We want to hear from you. If you find an accessibility issue on wastegrid.co.uk, or if you need content in a different format (for example larger text, plain text, or an alternative file type), please contact us.

Enforcement procedure
The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) is responsible for enforcing the Equality Act 2010 in England, Scotland, and Wales.
The Equality Act 2010 does not apply in Northern Ireland. Equality law in Northern Ireland is set out in separate legislation, including the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 as it applies in Northern Ireland, and is overseen by the Equality Commission for Northern Ireland (ECNI).
If you are not satisfied with how we respond to your complaint, you can contact:
- The Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS), if you are in England, Scotland, or Wales.
- The Equality Commission for Northern Ireland (ECNI), if you are in Northern Ireland.
Technical information about this website's accessibility
WasteGrid is a private commercial platform. The Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018 do not apply to us.
We are, however, subject to UK equality law. In England, Scotland, and Wales this is the Equality Act 2010. In Northern Ireland it is the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 as it applies in Northern Ireland. Both place a duty on service providers to make reasonable adjustments for disabled users, and we use WCAG 2.2 AA as our benchmark for meeting that duty.
Compliance status: the website is partially compliant with WCAG 2.2 AA, due to the limitations listed above.
Content not within scope
The following content sits outside the current scope of our accessibility work:
- Third-party services embedded on the site, such as form providers, analytics tools, and email platforms. We work with suppliers that publish their own accessibility statements.
- Legacy PDFs published before the launch of this statement. Where a user requests an accessible format, we will provide one.
What we are doing to improve accessibility
As the WasteGrid platform expands through 2026, we will:
- Test new features against WCAG 2.2 AA before release.
- Provide descriptive alternative text for all functional images.
- Ensure all interactive components are operable by keyboard.
- Provide captions and transcripts for any video or audio content we introduce.
- Publish updates to this statement as improvements are made.
